Stroll through the historic center of Bologna with your private guide and admire the most characteristic monuments of the city while discovering their fascinating history. The Learned, the Red, the Fat: this is how Bologna is defined, the capital of the rich Emilia Romagna. This tour departing from Piazza Nettuno, in front of the fountain, will proceed through Piazza Maggiore visiting the Basilica of San Petronio and its sundial, the largest in the world. The Basilica of San Petronio is the most important and impressive church in Bologna as well as being the fifth largest church in the world. The construction work of the Basilica began in 1390 but went on for centuries. The guided tour continues to the Sala Borsa and the Archiginnasio library, up to the Two Towers.
In the welcoming atmosphere of the center of Bologna, let yourself be carried away by the scents and flavors of the world famous Bolognese culinary tradition. Walk through the medieval market of the city where we will be able to taste the typical products of the city and the Emilia Romagna region by entering the suggestive area of the “Middle Market”, a network of streets, almost all named according to the category of craftsmen or sellers who occupied them (Drapperie, Degli Orefici, Clavature, Pescherie Vecchie)
These streets are a joy for the eyes and the palate: a riot of colorful vegetables, ripe fruit and even some forgotten fruits. In front of the windows you can witness the triumph of local gastronomic specialties: from pasta (tortellini, lasagna, tagliatelle, tortelloni with ricotta and vegetables) to sausages (first of all mortadella) to finish with the tastiest meats of the traditional boiled meat.
Our guided tour will take you to various shops to learn how to recognize the best products and handmade pasta, and to make small samples of the city’s specialties.
